Nebraska football season is in full swing now. Fans may be seeing signs of the old Nebraska team spirit coming back and getting excited again. Get back in the spirit of the “old glory days” using the Husker football materials available at the Hastings Public Library.
How did the coaches and players foster such loyalty and enthusiasm in the past? The book “What It Means to Be a Husker: Tom Osborne and Nebraska’s Greatest Players” edited by Jeff Snook includes comments from players and coaches starting in the 1920’s up to Eric Crouch. As Bill Kosch, a defensive back in 1969-1971 said, “You know how some teams don’t have chemistry or don’t gel at the right time, but have the talent? We were not that way—we were like a machine. All the parts came together and nobody worried if the other guy January 25, 2010 Brown and author Art Lindsay, “Touchdown Tommie: The Amazing Journey of a 2-Time National Champion Quarterback” by Tommie Frazier with Bob Schaller, and a brand new book “Then Osborne Said to Rozier...: The Best Nebraska Cornhuskers Stories Ever Told” by Steve Richardson offer an insider’s view of important people and moments in Cornhusker football history.
Find books by and about Hastings native son, Tom Osborne, such as “More Than Winning: The Story of Nebraska’s Tom Osborne” by Tom Osborne with John E.
